You’ve heard that you can now make your SETA and QCTO accredited courses available online. All the courses that you are delivering in the classroom, face-to-face, can now be delivered to all your learners online. It’s a no-brainer.

But now what?!?! What does this mean? How is this done? Where to start? Here at Quay Group we get asked questions like this all the time, and we’re here to help you answer them.

It seems a daunting task, but an elephant is eaten one (coordinated) step at a time.

Step 1: Get the technical specifications

Each SETA will have a set of technical specifications or guidelines which your accredited courses will have to adhere to when converting to online. These requirements could differ per SETA, so if you have the same courses accredited by multiple SETA’s, you will have to contact them all and make sure that you have all the details. To make things a bit easier for you, here is a link to the QCTO Guidelines on eLearning http://www.pseta.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/COVID-19-Memorandum-1.pdf.

Step 2: Apply for approval

The fact that your course content is approved by the SETA, puts you ahead in the race, but you still have some way to go. Your relevant SETA could require you to apply for approval of your online learning or blended learning training program. If so, you will have to acquire the relevant application form directly from your SETA.

The application will require you to supply your:

  1. Accreditation information
  2. Online Learning Information (such as training and facilitation mode)
  3. Supporting documents (such as your SAQA qualification ID

Step 3: Develop a strategy

Unfortunately, there is no magic wand to wave and, Shazam!, you have an online curriculum. It is going to require that you build a strategy for your online learning initiative and equally important, this needs to form part of your business strategy. You can’t treat it like the poor step child. Give it the attention it deserves.

Step 4: Select a reputable eLearning partner

So, I know I just mentioned that there is no magic wand that can get your learning online, but the good news is that there are indeed some magicians who can assist you. Choose carefully. The right partner can make this an incredible experience and by doing their magic, they’ll take your training to another level.  We her at Quay Group for instance will deliver turn key solutions even going as far as managing the SETA portion of your project. https://www.quaygroup.co.za/
